"Green" Vacation
What form of transportation can be more “green” than a sailing vessel? Enjoy the leisurely pace of moving with the wind. You may go 4 knots, 8 knots or 12 knots, but one of the beauties of sailing is you can enjoy the journey as much as you enjoy the destination. The crew of the “Semper Fi” have taken all actions to make her “green” and self sufficient while not giving up the creature comforts that make life more enjoyable.
When we were planning the aftermarket work for “Semper Fi” one of our design criteria was to be as energy self-sufficient as possible. We worked in Paul Landino of eMarine Systems to design a state of the art solar and wind system along with an optimized conventional charging system. Paul is an accomplished Electrical Engineer who specializes in the design of efficient, green systems for the yachting industry.
Through the installation of six 135 watt Kyocera solar panels with Solar Boost 3024i smart controllers, 2 Air-X Marine Wind Generators with smart controllers, and smart controllers for the refrigerators, freezer and battery chargers allows the “Semper Fi” to operate on a minimal amount of shore or generator power.
We minimize trash aboard the “Semper Fi” and always work to help preserve the beautiful marine environment that we love and live in. In our diving we take only pictures and leave only bubbles.
